New Update to the Form Builder
The version 2.4 is now available. It will replace the current version of the Form Builder in a few days, when we are confident it is stable and reliable. For now you can use either version, the old one being the default.
This is an opportunity for us to let you play with it, get your feedback and unearth any bug that may have slipped through.
Here are the new features and bug fixes:
- Improved form outline, with better handling of the drag & drop functionality and a new visual style that provides more information about questions and sections.
- The ‘duplicate’ option has been moved from the properties tab to the outline. Simply drag & drop the desired form elements to duplicate them.
- New questions and sections can now be inserted anywhere in the form by selecting first an existing item in the outline. The new element is inserted after the selection.
- You now get a warning if you try to leave the Form Builder without saving your web form (this feature is not supported in the Opera browser).
- Support for Opera 9.10 and Safari 2 (a few bugs remain in Safari).
- Fixed a bug that was gradually slowing down the application.
- Fixed a bug where the ‘required’ validation option had no effect when applied to sections.
The next version to the Form Builder will be a major update (v3.0) and should be available sometimes in late March. There are a number of nice functionalities coming, like calculation fields, improved conditional sections and fine control over the layout of the form.
As always, your feedback is very much appreciated, so feel free to leave a comment below or post in the forums.

There seem to be fewer conditional trigger choices in the new version than the old one, but I’m not sure.
I was working on a form that used conditional triggers A through AK. A through AZ were visible in the old version of the form builder, but only A through AK were visible in the new one…
Thanks for the upgrade! I love the visual cues as to the type of question. Nice1

The “Change Style” drop down seems to be missing a few styles…

I like the new style for the section with icons it made a lot easier to identify each section and what they are.

What about a new publish option, “Send form in an email?” That would be nice =)

Is there any plan to make it so that, if given the appropriate SQL/MySQL/Filemaker server info, you could create a connection to the said database and populate a local database with the info (so that we may do analysis at a later date on the info) - Perhaps using your forms as a frontend, but connecting to a local database for storage/retrieval of the fields…
Not sure if this is even possible or a thought.

Hello,
How do I set up my form so that the client’s email is set up as the Reply To email?
Thank you.

Charley, in the form processing & properties page you can customize the email notification and set the reply-to option (available on paying plans only).
Tim, yes there are plans to expand the features in the professional plan to allow complete integration with 3rd party scripts & services. If you email support at formassembly dot com, I’d be happy to keep you updated on progress.
Dan, sorry for the late reply.. If you’re still reading, could you expand on your suggestion? Thanks.

Woow Wish I had found this earlier - a great tool, thanks.
The update mentions V3 - a year and a half ago, is this still being developed?
